The Benefits of Sit With Horses - Mindful Meditation Practice

Sit with Horses uses mindfulness, meditation and focused presence techniques to to shift from autopilot to more fully engaged, releasing what feels fractured and letting go of stories that and I will be with you every step of the way.

I have shared this simple technique repeatedly with my clients of all ages, from the age of 18 and including therapists, animals lovers and horse riders in their 70s - where they discovered that just sitting with a horse can make things better for you.

Why is this so? Because simply sitting with your horse or a horse, is being present around the horse, and being present in yourself. It is taking a moment to do nothing, to slow down, and sit still and allow yourself to just be. It's just a different mode of operating altogether, where nothing is expected, and nothing is judged.

When I introduce this "concept" to clients, they look at me as though I have two heads - wondering how just sitting with a horse can help them feel better. What they do not expect is that their breathing deepens, their muscles relax, their mind stills and a deep seated sense of relief fills their being.

The physical benefit of Sit With Horses are numerous ...

Cortisol levels lower, immune system and brain function improves, your digestive system improves and there is a boost in serotonin levels and oxcytocin.

Blood pressure and heart rates decrease.

How does this work?

When meditating, the body undergoes a structural change. MRI images show a complete change in the brain, and changes that relax the body. Beta waves, produced when information is being processed, decrease, and are replaced by alpha waves, which are associated with total brain coherence. The frontal and parietal lobes, which deal with reasoning, planning, and processing sensory information, slow down, and without an excess of incoming stimuli, the nervous system is able to rest, resulting in relaxation in the entire body.

You receive the realisation that just being together in this moment of simply sitting with a horse is enough!

How often do we humans truly feel that sensation of "enough"?

It opens up the doors to possibilities and answers, and to experience just being without agitation.

It is the space where horses and humans have the chance to experience a deep ethical communion: a place of acceptance, compassion, kindness, trust and warmth.

It's that space where you realise that you need moments like this; of warmth and silence to stay in touch with the most important aspects of life and not loose yourself in the constant turmoil of agitation and work life chaos.

What will YOU do with what you find when you Sit With horses?

Let's begin your journey...
